Hey folks! long-shot post, but I’m running out of channels.
Our Shopify app submission has been frozen on “We are assigning you a reviewer” for 8+ weeks. unfortunately we’ve had zero substantive responses. Meanwhile we’re a MENA-focused AI customer service app with merchants actively waiting on the public listing to install, it’s becoming a real commercial blocker.
Quick facts for anyone willing to take a look:
• App: ReplAi Now
• Email: team@replai.now
Fully understand reviewer capacity is a thing, just hoping someone internal can confirm whether we’re actually in the queue or stuck in a loop somewhere. Happy to DM details. Thanks in advance
I’m on week 7. It would be nice if they would just post expectations and communicate with their partners. Could you post back when you get any updates please! Hopefully you get some updates this week
Hi Adam, just adding our experience to this thread in case it helps add visibility.
We’re now at the 10-week mark on our first app submission and like you we’ve had no substantive update on where we sit in the queue.
A few things we did so far, just to share for the benefit of others reading:
We recently ran the AI-assisted review tooling against our codebase and already addressed everything it flagged — no outstanding issues there.
We took the public guidelines seriously and tried to ship something we’d be comfortable having scrutinised line by line.
What’s been hardest isn’t the wait itself at all. We fully understand reviewer capacity is finite and the team is doing their best. It’s the lack of any visibility: not knowing our position in the queue, not having a rough ETA, and not being able to tell merchants and stakeholders anything more concrete than “still waiting.” Reading other threads here, it also seems common for submissions to go through multiple back-and-forth cycles over relatively small items once a reviewer is finally assigned, which adds further uncertainty to plan around.
As a team we’ve put significant time, capital, and energy into this, and we have additional apps in active development, so the experience on this first submission genuinely shapes how we think about continuing to build on the platform. None of this is meant as a complaint at the people doing the reviews; it’s a sincere request for a bit more transparency in the process (queue position, expected wait, status of assignment) so partners can plan responsibly.
Will post back here if anything moves on our side. Wishing you a quick resolution, and thanks to anyone from the Shopify team who can help shed light on this.
Based on the content of this post, the large number of pending reviews has slowed down the approval process, so we can only wait for the review for now.
Hey folks - will DM each of you to check the specifics on your review. But I do understand the frustration here, we have made some recent updates to improve this, that you can read here: App Store review updates: New tools to speed up submissions
And there’s a lot more in the pipeline to speed up reviews, so you can expect this experience to be much better soon.
Hi Liam, can you give me updates too, I submitted on February 26th, reviewer assigned on April 6th who reported two errors which were immediately fixed and submitted, it’s been 2 months now,
It would be great to just have a simple message saying “You’re number X in the queue“ when waiting for a reviewer to be assigned. Monitoring how quickly that changes we can estimate the time frame ourselves
Hi Liam, we are in the same situation, our app is connector between shopify and our warehoue, the app wont be in the store like other public apps, is just for our costumers and we are having the same issues. We put the app in review the 30 march and still not any response.Last year, we worked on connecting stores using private apps that no longer function for this purpose. We’ve worked hard to make the transition in time and meet all the requirements, but we’re very frustrated that it’s been over a month now and we still don’t have an assigned reviewer. We’ve been working with Shopify for over 8 years with all our clients, teaching them how to set up stores on Shopify, and for the past few months we haven’t been able to connect anyone to our logistics warehouse because we have no way of doing so until the app is reviewed. If there is anything that could be done or if you could help us, I would greatly appreciate it, as we are in a difficult situation because we cannot connect anyone, and ultimately we have 500 Shopify stores connected that depend directly on this. I would appreciate any advice or help.
Brave words , You are going to have a lot of work on this thread, Good luck!
By the way i hope for some real and stable improvements,
I’m in no hurry, my only concern is that if these waiting times were to become the norm, it would be difficult to recommend Shopify. It’s not just a matter of making money from the apps, but having customers on a platform hostile to customization could be problematic.
So now we have to DM with Shopify staff in order to get a status update?
Waited 2 months just to get automation check error, and now back to queue again.
I don’t really see improvements by Shopify’s new tool to speed up submissions.
I´m in the same situation. Is it possible to get an update on where I´m in the line to be waiting now for 5 weeks no update would really appreciate it?
