We recently submitted our app for App Store review and received the following message:
“We received your app submission and our team will start reviewing it shortly. It can take up to 2 weeks for us to test out your app and make sure it meets all of Shopify’s high standards and requirements.”
In the Partner Dashboard, the status is currently showing that a reviewer is being assigned, and it has remained in this state for a while.
I just wanted to confirm:
Whether the review process has officially started
And if there is anything else we need to provide at this stage
We understand the review can take time and are happy to wait — just wanted to make sure everything is progressing as expected and that no additional action is required from our side.

We are experiencing the exact same situation. We submitted our app a week ago, and the status has remained stuck on “Reviewer being assigned” in the Partner Dashboard since then.

Hey folks - thanks for reaching out. If you’ve received confirmation that we’ve received your submission, it is on our to-do list, however the review team is currently experiencing a high volume of app submissions and the time to complete reviews is taking longer than it has in the past.
Just wanted to confirm that we have received both submissions as well. Let me know if I can clarify anything further on my end here.
Seriously, just wanted to share my personal experience to help others get an understanding of where things are at currently in hopes it helps.
Starting at the “tail-end” of the submission queue from the holiday break, my app was in the “We’re Assigning a Reviewer” stage for 9 business days and on the 10th day the status flipped from that stage to “In Review”. I did not get an email that the status flipped. I did not get an email from a reviewer. I simply saw it flip on that 10th business day (Friday morning). It took all Friday to be reviewed and I just received notification this morning that things needed addressed.
Unfortunately, there was confusion with my app operation and now we’re in a back-and-forth email correspondence to straighten that out.
Basically, even though you may get your app in review status, you still have to go back and forth and apparently that takes time due to how back-logged they are or how much attention your app needs.
We submitted our app on January 13th and received the confirmation email stating that the review process may take up to two weeks.
However, the status still indicates that a reviewer is being assigned, and there has been no update since then.
we wanted to kindly check in on the current status.
Could you please let us know:
how far along the review process is at this point, and
whether there is an estimated timeline for when a reviewer will be assigned and the review completed?
We would really appreciate any update you can share, as this is time-sensitive on our side.
Keep in mind, the review process indicates it takes between 5 and 10 BUSINESS days to review the app. It took mine exactly 10 days to get assigned a reviewer. You are on day 8. Considering they are slightly behind, you should check back after day 10 (Jan. 27) if you have not yet heard anything.
We wanted to follow up again regarding our app submission.
We submitted the app on January 13th, and as of today (27 days later), the status is still showing “reviewer assignment in progress” with no further updates.
This is well beyond the 5–10 business days timeline mentioned in the review process, so we wanted to check in on the current status.
Could you please let us know:
whether a reviewer has been assigned at this point, and
if there are any issues, blockers, or missing requirements on our submission that we should address?
Our launch is currently blocked until the review is completed, so any update or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
