I have a public Shopify app that has already been approved and published on the Shopify App Store.
I’m planning to rebrand the app because the current name is causing brand confusion with other services.
I would like to know whether it is possible to fully rebrand an already approved public app while keeping the same app, existing merchants, installs, subscriptions, and reviews.
By “rebrand”, I mean updating things such as:
App name
App icon and branding
App Store listing content
App Store listing URL / handle, if possible
The app name shown inside Shopify Admin
App-related domains and support links
The app’s core functionality, billing model, and requested scopes would remain the same. This is only a branding change.
Could someone from Shopify confirm:
Is a full rebrand allowed for an app that is already approved and live on the Shopify App Store?
Can this be done without creating a new app?
Which parts can be updated directly from the Partner Dashboard, and which parts require contacting Shopify Partner Support?
Is there an official recommended process or checklist for rebranding a published public app?
Would this require a new app review if the core functionality and permissions stay the same?
I want to make sure I follow the correct process and avoid affecting existing merchants.
Can both of these be changed for an already approved public app while keeping the same app, existing installs, subscriptions, reviews, and ranking history?
Also, are redirects from the old URLs to the new ones possible, or does this require Shopify Partner Support?
