Clarification on bypassing checkout delivery section for a gifting app (Shopify App Review)

Hello,

We’re currently going through app review for our Shopify app, and we received the following feedback:

“Shopify can’t guarantee the safety or security of an order that’s been placed through an offsite or third party checkout. Apps that bypass checkout or payment processing, or register any transactions through the Shopify API in connection with such activity, are prohibited. The app must use checkout fields to collect any order related data like the address. ”

We have a ‘shipping fee calculator’ on the cart page in our plugin. Currently we only have the below fields. Is the name a required field as well?

  • Country
  • Region
  • Postcode

Hey @Farah_Abbas, are you still running in to issues with this requirement?

Based on the feedback and mentioning the shipping fee calculator, can you confirm you are using the shipping rates registered on the store (for example using Cart API reference ), or is this request being sent to a 3rd party service. That could be what is meant by the message.
