We have got the same trademark notice but for the word “Instagram”. I posted this and other developers are also facing this from Instagram as well.

Hey guys check this out. @Hitesh_Apps If you offer an app, website or a product or service that uses the Instagram APIs or is otherwise compatible with or related to Instagram, you may only use Instagram to say that your app is “for Instagram” or that the name of your campaign is “on Instagram” in a descriptive manner.
Thank you @Uday_Akoliya and @Ying_Li for the information. But my main issue is that i want to keep “Instagram” word in the app title or app name.
That is the same thing for which i got the trademark notice.

Can i still use the word Instagram as the app title ? As discussed previously @navdeep had to remove WhatsApp from his app name, However other people are still using it in their app name. Same goes here so many apps might have not received any trademark notice.
Please let me know your thoughts.
this is quite useful… it would be great if people who have got notice can follow these guidelines and share their experience once their app is cleared.
It will help others who might get similar DMCA notices from other brands

I think what the guidelines are trying to imply is that your app should not reflect that it is directly associated with Instagram

For the point number 2,
So many apps are already showing Instagram or WhatsApp or Facebook the most important feature as the entire apps are build on the basis of that.
I do not have any issue that they will ask me to remove the word i am afraid that other apps will still keep using it and that would be an unfair disadvantage.
@navdeep have you made any trademark appeal ?
For me filling an appeal form link was not working and redirecting to 404 page.
Is it same for you as well ?
I told the partner support team and they said that they are working to fix the broken link.
yes you will have to appeal, and surely they will send you the correct link. Once you make an appeal then you will have to reply to that email that you have taken necessary steps.
What happened after your appeal ?
Did they hear you ?
Have you said that other apps will keep using word “Whatsapp” and that will be an unfair disadvantage for your app ?
No I did not go that route. I just removed whatsapp logo and the word. I remmember in one of the screenshot the a small logo was left and it was rejected. So had to remove that. Infact initally there was no help from support. Once I posted it here, my emails started getting response.

@navdeep @Uday_Akoliya @Ying_Li I have just observed that on the wordpress plugin store there are no apps with having “Instagram” in it’s names while on the magento extension marketplace there are few extensions which are having Instagram in their names.
