We have recently received a notification from Shopify regarding our standard chat integration, which has been providing completely free service to thousands of stores for years.
Our app has never generated any revenue — it was built purely to support merchants and improve their communication with customers. We were even planning to release a major update this month to make it more professional and user-friendly.
However, the message we received stated that we must remove all instances of the “WhatsApp” name and logo from our app and its visuals. We respected Shopify’s decision, assuming it was based on an important compliance requirement, and immediately updated our app by removing all brand names and icons as requested.
That said, we are genuinely curious — while there are still hundreds of other apps (around 600) on the Shopify App Store that openly use the word “WhatsApp,” we wonder why such action was applied only to our app.
We have been a proud Shopify Partner for many years, actively representing the platform in our country and helping countless merchants succeed. Therefore, we kindly request that a Shopify representative contact us directly to clarify the situation and help us better understand the reasoning behind this notice.
