We have 10 apps on the Shopify app store. All of them have extensions. We continue working on the apps but for some of them we are not planning updates any time soon. My question is: Do I need to deploy all the apps ASAP because it’s required or can I just wait and do it in the future? The content of the email that we received and the documentation are very confusing. In the documentation it states “Your current installations will continue to function, but to keep building and updating post-migration, you will need to…“. In the email we have the following info: ”After migration, you need to deploy your app so that the CLI will assign a new ID to each extension”. Please clarify if the deploment is required or if we can leave the apps as they are for the next couple of months (if we don’t change them). If the deployment is required please provide a deadline.
Hey @Adam_Kalisiak
- our recommendation would be to deploy them as soon as you can since, in the near future, a little bit after everyone is migrated over to the Next Gen Dev Platform, the legacy developer platform will be deleted, and the new Developer Dashboard will replace the old Partners Dashboard for app management for everyone (including merchant dev folks). There’s a bit more on the migration process here:
That said, if you’re open to a DM, I can set one up on my end so that I can look into the specifics of that email and see if we can share some additional info with you for clarity for sure, just let me know and I can set that up on my end. Hope this helps a little bit.
Hey @Adam_Kalisiak - just following up here, let me know if the above helped/if I can help out further ![]()
Hi Alan,
Thank you for taking your time to reply to me. We have already deployed all our apps.
Kind regards,
Adam

No worries Adam, thanks for deploying them, appreciate you confirming. I’ll close out the thread for now, but let me know if I can help with anything else.
It’s a bit disconcerting if its accurate that the Partner Dashboard will be deleted specifically because we can’t run test charges on dev stores from the new dev dashboard (or access billing pages or payment pages) like we can in current Partner dev stores. According to the replies here this is expected behavior (although not documented from what I can tell).
