Longer App Store Review Times: What You Need to Know

Yes it is accurate that you go to the end of the line in my experience.

Hey @MarkT I’ve got a genius billion dollar idea for you. How about just updating the “It can take up to 2 weeks” from the email and interface. I’m sure that would save you a lot of angry customers…

Hey Mark,

Why not recruit more folks in your team to expedite the review timelines? That’s the only solution to this and yet Shopify failing to actively acknowledge - that isn’t good. Lack of resources to manage the demand isn’t a problem of the developers.

Let me know your thoughts on this.

Our waiting time has also exceeded 1 month. Waiting patiently.

how many days did it take finally?

@MarkT Have you folks done anything about the backlog? Why not hire a few more folks?

We received approval for our first app on February 20 after submitting it on January 30. During that period, there was no communication from the Shopify team, and after approximately 21 days of waiting, the approval was granted.

For our second app, it has now been over three weeks since submission, and we have not received any updates so far. This level of delay can be quite stressful, especially without any visibility into the review status.

It would be highly beneficial if there were a more transparent process or regular status updates to keep developers informed during the review period, rather than having to wait for an extended time without any communication.

Just chiming back in - Submitted shopperGPT on Feb 8. Reviewed and rejected on March 4th due to an Incognito mode install bug. Fixed and re-submitted same day. :cricket: :cricket: :cricket: since then. Today is our 2 month anniversary since submission! :tada: :clinking_glasses:

Anyone else in the queue for 60 days? We should start a leader board!!!

Hmmmmm, discouraging to say the least. Submitted my app over a month ago and it hasn’t even been looked at. What makes it worse, I am a one man team and this is a large app which took me about 10 months to build, and I was pretty excited to submit it but after reading all these post from everyone, makes me realize we are in the same boat.

@MarkT Posting here about the ongoing issue affecting new Shopify connections for our platform.

Prior to January, new Shopify connection volume was consistently in the 300+ per month range, at times reaching the 400+ range. Since the required move from the legacy app flow to OAuth, and while our updated app remains pending review, new connection volume has fallen significantly — now averaging closer to the 200 per month range, with some months trending even lower.

That amounts to an approximate 40–50% reduction in new Shopify connections.

The most concerning part is that the initial app submission was already done more than two months ago after completing the required migration work on our side. And the review pointers were also addressed promptly from our end within few hours.
Despite that, the review is still not complete, and our customers continue to bear the impact of that delay.

A review timeline of this length is deeply disappointing given the direct effect it is having on real businesses trying to connect Shopify with our platform.
This back-and-forth has gone on far too long. It is no longer a minor delay. It is a prolonged bottleneck with clear business consequences.
Please have it looked into at the utmost priority.
