Malicious repeated installs -> uninstalls

Hi all,

I am concerned that I am going to be downranked in the app store as a shop (i suspect a competitor) is repeatedly installing and uninstalling one of my apps after a couple of seconds providing reason ‘App doesn’t work with my store’. This has been going on a few weeks. Can any Shopifolk confirm whether or not this will be interpreted on the back end as ‘50 shops says this app doesnt work’ or ‘1 shop says this doesn’t’ work.

Unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to stop them doing this.

You can formally report this behavior here: Report a Partner Policy Violation. Include the pattern you’re seeing of repeated installs/uninstalls from what appears to be the same shop or organization, timeline, and the reason given. This ensures our governance teams have the information they need to investigate.

For your concern about being demoted in some way, the specific variables on how apps are surfaced for merchants isn’t something we share (and it’s constantly evolving to ensure a good merchant experience). What I would recommend when working on enhancing visibility for your app, is our app success documentation. This covers what factors actually drive success and what you can do to influence your visibility, including performance, ease of use, and “proven usefulness”. You’ll notice the emphasis in our guides is on quality positive signals from real merchant engagement.
