Paypal takes fee?

Hi community,

it looks like paypal says they do not take a fee but, at the end after an order from a client paid with paypall, paypall takes a big fee.

Someone know more?

Thanks community.

kind regards,

This doesn’t seem related to the Shopify API, so I’d recommend asking here: https://community.shopify.com/c/payments-shipping-and/bd-p/payments-shipping-fulfilment

or contacting Shopify support directly.

You need to look into the term “Merchant” you are a merchant and your account falls under these terms for accepting payments, you need to refer your questions directly to PayPal. The merchant terms link is here: https://www.paypal.com/au/business/paypal-business-fees

Additionally Shopify take a cut of your money simply for allowing you to sell on their platform. So your money is double dipped before entering your pocket (minus taxes). As a rough guide your sell price is about - Minus 5-10% profit after transaction fees occur, but varies heavily and the more volumes of sales the better deals you generally can get and is worth negotiating.

Hi,

Yes, PayPal does charge transaction fees, even if it sometimes looks unclear in their interface. The fee usually depends on the country of your account, the payment type (domestic or international), and sometimes the currency conversion. That’s why the final received amount can be quite a bit lower than expected.

To get a clear idea of what you’ll actually receive after fees, you can use this calculator: Calculer les frais PayPal. It’s helpful for simulating different amounts and payment scenarios.
