Precursory Review Failed - Shopify Theme Store Submission

Hello everyone,
I recently submitted a theme to the Shopify Theme Store and unfortunately, it did not pass the precursory review phase.

I built the theme meticulously, ensuring it met all the Shopify Theme Requirements, and checked every box. However, the feedback I received was quite vague, making it difficult to understand the specific areas for improvement.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone who has experience with Shopify Theme Store submissions could offer some guidance or share any insights into common reasons for precursory review failures.

@Liam-Shopify I know that you are super busy but I would truly appreciate your input on this.

Thank you in advance for your time and expertise.

Hey @Zainab_Babayaro ,
Totally understand your frustration — been there myself. Even if your theme checks all the boxes, Shopify often looks for strong visual polish, originality (not too close to existing themes), and a well-merchandised demo store.

Sometimes vague feedback just means something didn’t stand out enough. If you’re open to sharing your demo link or what feedback you got, I’m happy to take a quick look.

Hang in there — most approved themes don’t make it on the first try.
