Seeking Clarity on Shop Pay Eligibility Before Migrating from WooCommerce to Shopify

We have a client looking to migrate their online store from WooCommerce to Shopify. Their primary concern is whether Shop Pay will be available as a payment option for their products. If, for any reason, Shop Pay is not permitted, they would need to use a third-party payment gateway. However, they are not willing to incur additional per-transaction fees that Shopify charges for third-party gateways.

We reached out to Shopify Support for clarification, but the responses were vague and inconclusive. One representative even suggested that we set up the store and test it out, but this is not a viable option for our client. They are hesitant to invest time and resources into migrating their store only to find out later that they cannot use Shop Pay.

To support our case, we have identified several businesses selling similar products that currently offer Shop Pay as a payment option:

Has anyone encountered a similar situation or found a more definitive way to confirm Shop Pay eligibility before committing to the migration? Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ambiw,

Why would you be thinking that Shop Pay would not be supported? Would it be a technical restriction or something related to the products?

Hello Liam,
Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is because product type, they are selling supplements like Colon Cleanse Pills, vegan enzymes and probiotics.
Thanks!

As I understand it, all products do get reviewed and your client may be required to provide additional documentation to ensure products are not prohibited, see: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/payments/shopify-payments/eligibility#prohibited-businesses:~:text=businesses%20and%20products-,Prohibited%20businesses%20and%20products,-Before%20signing%20up

Thank you, we shall reach out to the client, if he has such documentation.
