Shopify Website Verification By Outside company

Hi
I was given a file with JS codings and requested to attach the file to my Shopify root or index folder, but I’m not quite sure where it should go. Since I need to verify my Shopify website with them to work with this company… Please guide me if there is any way to do it on the Shopify side.

Thanks
Manoj

Please upload or copy your file to the /assets folder. After that, you can reference it within other files as needed.

Hi @Manoj_Regmi

That is very strange, and risky.

Usually B2B verification is done through TXT records on the DNS domain. Javascript can be used to execute malicious code on your storefront.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask this company to verify ownership over DNS instead. It’s much less risky to your site and accomplishes the same goal of verification of the website.

Does it mean, website verification will be done by DNS Domain TXT records too?

Not sure @Manoj_Regmi , that is a question that you’ll need to ask the business you’re verifying with.

Are you verifying your B2B account with a wholesaler? Just curious, I’ve never heard of another business asking to add JS code to a theme to prove ownership before.
