I’m facing an issue where a small minority of users are not receiving the latest version of my POS UI extension. I deployed a version of the extension that outputs an error directly in the view. However, to my surprise, the screenshots these users sent me do not show this recently deployed version—they’re still seeing an older version of the extension.
I can’t find any information on how Shopify updates POS UI extensions on users’ devices. The users have tried restarting their devices and removing and re-adding the extension to the smart grid, but this doesn’t seem to pull in the latest version. Oddly enough, one of the users reports being able to use the extension on their personal phone, but none of the iPad devices in the store are able to load the latest version.
Again, this is affecting a small number of users and most users are loading the latest version almost instantly after the version is deployed.
For some context:
- I have one POS UI extension.
- Users install the extension by adding the tile to the smart grid via Shopify Admin.
- The extension is not POS embedded and therefore cannot be added through the POS apps section.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any insights on how to ensure all devices receive the latest deployed version of a POS UI extension? Any advice on how Shopify handles extension updates on POS devices would be greatly appreciated.
