Spammers bombarding the App Store listing "Get support" button

Lately I’m getting 2-3 solicitations per day through the “Get support” button on our app store listings. Review spammers, all promising “thoughtful reviews” from their “network of sites”. So annoying to get this garbage through a support channel.

Are there any Shopify channels to report review spammers to? Happy to forward these if it would help staunch the flow. And Shopify might be able to spot, new spam networks by monitoring this channel, since they need a store to send these messages.

It really is non-stop!

I’ve been using this page to report such instances.

Good to know this page exists. But wow that would take 5-10 minutes per spam msg, especially if they want follow up.

Hey folks,

Thanks for flagging this - this is definitely not ideal and the support form should be reserved for merchants who are actually needing help using your apps. I’ve connected with the relevant teams internally here and will report back with an update asap!

Thanks @Liam-Shopify!

@Liam, we just got an email again, via the Support button, from an account we reported to Shopify a month ago, essentially offering to provide installs and reviews, but carefully worded to make it seem legit.

They’re using the same myshopify account and email. Everything appears active.

I quickly checked some of the accounts we sent to Shopify and, while most seem to be inactive now, at least four are still going. It would be great if the governance team could provide a quick follow up for each case, so we know what/if action is being taken. The way it’s been, we don’t know if it’s worth it to send these reports, nor if it has any real impact, so we’re ignoring these emails for now.
