Sudden API deprecation warning for old version

Can anyone from Shopify take a look at this? We’re seeing a 2024-07 API deprecation warning banner for one of our apps, but we’re already on 2025-04. Timestamp of detection is also oddly specific: Oct 11, 00:00:00.

No extension, TOML or app changes deployed recently. This seems like a bad deploy from Shopify; would appreciate any help.

Merchants are seeing a warning banner that the app is unsupported.

I have reported this back in late September:

Liam’s acknowledged there’s an issue. He’ll respond back on that thread.

I don’t know if it’s related to a deprecation warning or messaging. We’re seeing “Unsupported” all the way from install to Settings page in admin.

Hopefully, it’s not too long of a wait. If this specific issue of “Unsupported” appearing has been going on since late september, then it’s going to be painful.

Just wanted to confirm from a technical standpoint we don’t make any API calls to the products or variants endpoints anywhere in our app. We looked at the entire codebase.

Which is why it’s concerning since the only recommendations is to update the API version which we already have.

@Liam-Shopify Can you help us out here? This API deprecation warning came out of nowhere, and the timestamp of last detection is oddly specific.

Hey @sandy-stoq @kartik-stoq :waving_hand: - thanks for clarifying that you’re not making any calls to the products/variants endpoints. Are you using the REST API at all? If you’re open to sharing the App ID for the app where this triggered, I can take a look to see if anything pops up in our logs for you.

on a side note - how long does it take for the “unsupported” badge to disappear? even if it was us hitting a deprecate endpoint (which i’m doubtful of), the timestamp is of Oct 11. is it 30 days for this to reset/disappear?

And for your question about the badge, that usually disappears within 7 days, but in some circumstances we can remove it on our end early (I can’t guarantee anything at the moment, but I’m happy to look into that as a possibility as well on my end).

Hey @Alan_G, we are experiencing a similar issue, even though we are using version 2025-01.

We were about to submit the app for review, but this error suddenly appeared.

Earlier this check was passed, but suddenly it failed now:


Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Update - the banner disappeared from our app yesterday. Happened earlier than 7 days. The timestamp still feels like it points to an issue/bug on Shopify’s end. Happy to share any context from our end if it helps. :slight_smile:

Hey folks :waving_hand: - I messaged @sandy-stoq separately on this in a DM, but wanted to write a public reply with an update as well. We are looking into this further as a possible issue on our end. If you are still seeing the banners though, just let me know and I’d be happy to share that info with the folks I’m working on this with so we can take a closer look.

Hey, @Alan_G. The banner is gone, but we’re still seeing this in our dev dashboard. I’m sure you’re aware - just flagging for visibility.
