Urgent: Defamatory "Virus" Allegation in App Review - How to handle?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or assistance from the Shopify team regarding a highly defamatory review we just received for our app, TXE WhatsApp Button (https://apps.shopify.com/txe-whatsapp-button).

A user named “Copilotostore” left a 1-star review claiming that our app “contains viruses” and “damages pages with hidden landing code.”

I want to state clearly that this is 100% false. * We have over 300 active merchants using the app.

  • We have never had a single security complaint or report.

  • Our code is clean, follows all Shopify security protocols, and we are more than happy to have it audited by the Shopify internal team.

This isn’t just a “bad experience” review; it’s a serious false accusation that mentions “malware/virus,” which triggers fear in other merchants and causes irreparable damage to our reputation. It clearly violates the policy against defamatory and demonstrably false content.

I have already opened a support ticket, but I wanted to ask the community:

  1. Has anyone successfully had a “virus” smear removed before?

  2. Are there specific steps I can take to speed up the technical verification process to prove our app is safe?

I’ve worked hard to build a reliable tool for the ecosystem and it’s disheartening to see such a baseless attack.

Any advice or help from Shopify Community Managers would be greatly appreciated.
