Okay thanks @derrick I’ll suggest it to them but they will likely just ignore me now that it’s “mostly” working again.
Interestingly I can’t reproduce this issue locally on any of my devices.
So it looks like the fix we deployed is working, its just that many devices are still using the cached version of extensions which does not contain the fix. This is why deleting the app or clearing device memory works.
We’re going to try clearing another time on our side. Thanks for everyones patience.
Thank you @Victor_Chu
We have gone ahead and notified every merchant using our POS extension of this known issue, and the potential workaround of logging off and back in, or reinstalling the Shopify POS itself.
Please let us know if a totally remote fix is feasible, and if so when it’s officially out. We need to give confirmation, since there’s no Shopify Status at all at this time.
Yes I’d like to see the Shopify status page updated when situations like this occur, gives the merchants some added reassurance that Shopify is aware of the problem and it is being investigated, above just my word as a developer.
I would like to second simon_b, issues like this should show on the Shopify status page. It would give reassurances to merchants.
It’s the cache issue on the javascript assets. We cannot force remote fix in this case unfortunately. The cache is expired in 24 hours. Or the user needs to either hard reload (Ctrl + F5, Ctrl + Shift + R, Cmd + Shift + R) or use different browser.
Same, I wished Shopify could make these issues public, so that the merchants know it is Shopify issue, and not blaming app developers (and cause churn in some case)
This is still happening on POS UI extension, even after deleting and installing the Shopify POS app. Any guidance here?
I have an issue there admin block block fetches data and it’s not getting populated. Would it be related to this issue? I’m unable to replicate on my side so I don’t have much to go on.
- iOS: iPad Settings > Apps > Shopify POS > Reset Account > Check this
- Android: Long press on the Shopify POS icon > Tap on App Info > Storage and Cache > Clear storage
Requires logging back into POS.
