Significant delay in getting my new app approved for the app store

On a recommendation from our Shopify Plus rep, I recently converted our custom private Shopify app to an unlisted public one so we can then install it across all of our stores. I completed the work along with a bunch of new functionality and submitted the app for review/approval over 5 weeks ago. I have been checking the status of the app regularly and the status has been stuck at “We’re assigning a reviewer to your submission“ for about 3 weeks now. No updates. No communication. No requests for fixes.

This is extremely frustrating since all I’m basically doing is asking for Shopify’s permission to use our own app on our stores and have zero intention of distributing this outside our organization. This is becoming a huge issue for us since I now have two brand new stores waiting to launch that are being held up but the missing functionality that was going to be provided by this new app.

I have reached out to the support team about this and was just told that waiting is my only recourse. I have also tried to get help from our Plus rep a few weeks ago but haven’t even gotten a response yet. What are my options here? I appreciate Shopify wanting to vet apps released in their echo system but at the same time, doing so is creating a bottle-neck that is costing us thousands of dollars that, from my perspective, is totally pointless in this situation.

Any update on the delay or suggestions on what I can do to push this along would be greatly appreciated.

As you was told already, the only thing you can do right now is wait. There is a high number of submissions currently.

@Luke thanks for providing this post. On the one hand, it doesn’t help move things along but at least it confirms that Shopify is universally dropping the ball on this and it’s not just me. Guess that’s something.
