A while ago, when a merchant contacted us via the app contact form, the email contained their myshopify domain front and centre. We could copy it easily and use to search our database, request collaborator access etc.
There’s been some changes that introduce some friction and it’s beginning to add up:
- Contact email doesn’t include myshopify domain anymore. We have to open the merchants site and dig into the inspection console to find it.
- The Collaborator request process used to accept a shop’s custom domain. Now, it only works with the myshopify domain.
- In the Collborations tab, it only shows the shop’s custom domain.
Basically, the only domain that is shown prominently is the one we can’t use for anything ourselves, and one that even the collaborator request process won’t accept.
That’s been the main pain point so far. I seems like the interface surfaces we interact with are trying so hard to hide the most crucial piece of information.
The second thing that I miss is being able to click on a collaborator store and see the history details, like when they installed the app etc. Now when you click it goes straight to log in.
