[BUG] Can't send new collaborator request in Dev Dashboard

Hi @Paige-Shopify

I explained it here already: Send collaborator access button from partner dashboard not visible - #12 by Soufiane_Ghzal

Previous workflow:

  1. Open the old partner dashboard
  2. Go to the history of stores that installed the app (1)
  3. Use the search bar to find the relevant store
  4. Click the store you want to see
  5. If it has a collaborator request already accepted it shows a button to login (now missing), otherwise it shows a button to send a collaborator request (now missing)
  6. Click the collaborator request button (now missing) (2)
  7. Send the request
  8. Find the other store details such as the email to which the collaborator request was sent.

(1) History of app install with a search bar:

(2) store screen where we used to have a button to send a collaborator request:

New workflow:

  1. Open the old partner dashboard
  2. Go to the history of stores that installed the app (1)
  3. Use the search bar to find the relevant store
  4. Click the store you want to see
  5. :warning: Copy the xxx.myshopify.com url to your clipboard
  6. :warning: Click “Store” in the menu to open the new dev dashboard (which by the forces to open in a new tab - which is a poor web ux practice I’ll open a ticket about it)
  7. :warning: in the new dev dashboard go to the list of authorized collaborator store
  8. :warning: check if the store already has a collaborator request (assuming no)
  9. :warning: in the new dev dashboard click “request store access”
  10. :warning: paste the xxx.myshopify.com url to the collaborator request input
  11. Send the request
  12. :warning: come back to the old partner dashboard
  13. Find the other store details such as the email to which the collaborator request was sent.
  14. :warning: go back one more time to the new dev dashboard to check/open the collaborator request status

Previously everything was well organized into a single screen. If you wanted to login to an existing collaborator request, you could also do it from the same screen where you have all stores information. Now once again you need first the go to the old dashboard to check the store information, then go to the new dev dashboard.

That’s why I’m loudly claiming that the dev dashbaord was released and forced to us when it’s still an unfinished product, and it’s not acceptable for a daily workflow, and I truly think that the people developing and designing and the decision makers of this new dev dashboard have not taken the time to weight the impact of their decisions.

The new dev dashboard does not have half the necessary information we use every day. No list of stores that installed the app. No ways to search for a store, no store information (history, revenue, contact email, etc…).

FYI - few people are complaining, but I asked around me and it definitely impacted more people than you expect. Other people are also concerned with this despite not being as vocal about it as I am.

One more thing - about dark theme.

The dev dashboard forces a dark theme. Which can be hard an uncomfortable to the eyes of some people. See the related topic: New dev plateform - dark theme - #5 by cee_em that’s a bigger deal than it seems to be. Not a just a complain for the sake of complaining. Personally using a dark theme puts constraint and stress to my eyes causing unnecessary tireness. The fact that now I must use it without being able to change to a light theme is an issue. Additionally, in the process of sending a collaborator request switching from the old dashboard (light theme) and the new dev dashboard (dark theme) successively causes additional discomforts because of light/dark flashing screen.
